Public Relations Specialist in Houston, TX

Public Relations Specialist is responsible for performing general public relations duties for the SHC-Houston facility. Such duties include but are not limited to providing hospital tours, delivering presentations at health fairs and other educational events that publicize the SHC presence, assisting with community and fund-raising events, and to cover events and record material for future stories. Additional duties also include maintaining internal communication efforts, such as the regional electronic newsletter, invitations, and other publications in support of hospital and Corporate PR initiatives. This position will act as the point person for communication with HQ-PR and provide local coordination for HQ-driven projects.
The successful individual will be able to communicate and work effectively with staff, Board members, and members of the SHC-Houston hospital in order to present a coordinated marketing effort. Must also be able to build and maintain positive working relationships with various community media.
Minimum of two years of newsletter writing, design, and layout experience required; public/community relations experience in a healthcare setting preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate a professional, positive, and customer-focused disposition; demonstrate the ability to think creatively and to efficiently work in a busy team-based work environment. Also have the ability to work with minimum supervision and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
